I was born of Anglo Indian origins in the North of England. My parents had fled the splendour of India to arrive in a UK struggling with recovery post WWII. My father loved to read and write stories and I think this fostered my love of all such beautiful pursuits from a very early age.
My mother had an old Smith-Corona and I would tap out stories with a relentless gusto. I like to think of my musings as an act of ‘prosetry’ where word combinations begin to conjure and morph themselves into all sorts of fantastical designs as poetry draws itself into prose and vice versa.
My formative years were fashioned by the 1960s and by then we had moved to Wales. I hated school, but knew there had to be something better- so I trained to be a teacher with a determination to change the world. I studied Arts and Drama and moved to London where I taught in the East End and found my niche.
We moved to Somerset for a better place to grow our three children and latterly we have crossed the border into Devon. I’ve taught creative writing, written a novel, gained a degree and put together several anthologies. I have an avid interest in politics, dance, film, books (of course) and teach yoga in my spare time. So, with one husband, three children and now a growing bevy of gorgeous grand children I truly believe I am living the life fantastic! And as a serious activist I am still waiting to change the world…
